June 2009 was an exciting watershed for 9Lies. It was the month when almost all we have worked towards as a band and fans collectively came to fruition with the announcement of our first BIG budget UK and Ireland release. WooHOO!
Its also a time where the mood feels right to take stock and look back at where we came from as a 'wee band from Belfast'! Since the release in 2006 of the 'Behind It All' album, its been pretty much a rollercoaster ride, with 'Blind' being snapped up by Warner TV, and the title track 'Behind it All' finding home as the theme tune to 'Our Prisoner' in the USA. In 07 the Song 'Slippin Away' was downloaded more than 43,000 times and chosen by ASCAP for excellence in song writing at Music Expo 07 in L.A. And last year was our biggest to date, seeing us travel to Poland to play the Vena Music Festivalin Łódź to thousands of screaming fans alongside the Sugababes and Fun Lov'in Criminals.
Being invited to play FMI 08 in Brazil, licensing 'We R1' to Techno Sweat 48000 people joined us on our Myspace sites, our fans on Bebo placed our songs on over 1500 of their play lists! And to top it all off, the release of the first video game ever to use our music 'Trucker 2' is imminent! Oh Yeah!! Thanks a lot for your continued support. We'll work day and daily to keep you proud!

1. Here’s a Radical, yet simple and blatantly obvious global warming idea. Shock horror, the heating is not caused by greenhouse gases at all! in my opinion the earth is heating because the population is the biggest its ever been and the heat from cars, jet engines, body heat, the breaking down of human waste, heating homes (after all your house cools down quite quickly when the heating’s off due to it escaping into the atmosphere) and even the 'cooling' fins on the back of your fridge freezer. To put it into context, the earth’s population as I’m typing this is just under 7 Billion and growing at a rate of around 7 million people per day and rising! To put it bluntly, we're screwed!
Nostradamus predicts December 2012 as being pretty much the end, and short of a few billion people stopping the world and getting off, he could well be right! 2. Here’s a Radical Idea on recycling. Recycling where a product is melted down to create a new product is not green! How much carbon is put into the air to heat the product to be recycled to melt it down and power the machines that reform it, or pumped into the air by the truck that comes to your house to pick it up?? There were better ways of recycling before we even knew what the word meant, that also helped to keep the streets clean.Back in the 80's soft drinks came in glass bottles and when you brought the empties back to the shop they gave you change back. These bottles were then flushed out and refilled, but not any more.Recycling is a big money business!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ....... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans ! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
